The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced the release of Certificates of Practice (COP) for successful candidates who cleared the All India Bar Examination (AIBE-XVIII). These COPs have been dispatched to all State Bar Councils across India, with the exception of the Karnataka State Bar Council.
Candidates are advised to contact their respective State Bar Councils to collect their COPs at their earliest convenience. The BCI has urged all candidates to reach out directly to their respective State Bar Councils for any assistance or queries related to the collection process.
However, candidates who fall under the jurisdiction of the Karnataka State Bar Council will have to wait a little longer. The BCI has stated that the COPs for these candidates will be released shortly, and a separate notification will be issued once they are available.
The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a mandatory test for law graduates in India, designed to assess their competency to practice law. Successfully passing the AIBE grants candidates the right to receive a Certificate of Practice, allowing them to practice as advocates across India.
Documents Required for COP Application:
After clearing the AIBE, candidates applying for the Certificate of Practice (COP) must attach the following documents:
* A copy of the AIBE result.
* Academic qualification documents.
* Three recent passport-size color photographs.
* A valid caste certificate (for SC/ST applicants).
* Additional certificates, photographs, declarations, and documents as specified in the application form.
The application fee for COP varies by state bar council and may change annually. Candidates are advised to obtain the application form for the latest fee details.
For the latest updates, candidates are encouraged to stay informed by regularly checking notifications from the BCI and their respective State Bar Councils.
