Barnsley FC Parts Ways with Manager Neill Collins
Barnsley FC has announced the departure of manager Neill Collins, effective immediately. This decision was made after a run of poor results, including four losses and only one win in their last six league fixtures.
Despite previously being in contention for automatic promotion, Barnsley now faces the threat of dropping out of the top six. The club believes that this change is necessary to improve the team’s performance and increase their chances of success in the crucial play-offs.
Collins joined Barnsley at the beginning of the season on a two-year deal. The Tykes will need to seal victory against Northampton at Oakwell on Saturday to remain in contention for promotion back to the Championship.
Barnsley has sat in the play-off spots for much of the campaign and has taken a bold step by sacking Collins in an attempt to keep their promotion hopes alive. Should they make the play-offs and reach the final, they will have done so for the second year in a row.
The club has not yet announced a replacement for Collins, but Martin Devaney will step up as interim manager.
