Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has showered praise on Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting his distinctive bowling action and its effectiveness. Bumrah’s unique delivery style and consistent performances have earned him a reputation as one of the most feared bowlers in the world.
Basit Ali, in a recent video on his YouTube channel, specifically emphasized Bumrah’s ability to bamboozle batters with his unorthodox bowling action. He described it as a key ingredient to Bumrah’s success. ‘Even if you play Bumrah on a cement pitch, his action is so awkward, he can deceive the batters,’ Ali remarked. ‘That is the truth. That is what I call him Boom Boom. Not the rest of the bowlers. The rest of them depend on their form and rhythm. He comes in, takes a wicket, and then picks three in his next spell. He is very deceptive, his slower one is accurate. Usually, the deliveries you bowl in white-ball cricket, he picks wickets on such deliveries in the Test format. It is special.’
Bumrah is making a much-anticipated return to the Indian team after his stellar performance in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, where he was instrumental in India’s victory. He has been included in the squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, scheduled to commence on September 19th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Since his Test debut in 2018, Bumrah has become a force to be reckoned with, taking 159 wickets in just 36 appearances. The second Test between India and Bangladesh is slated to take place in Kanpur starting September 27th.
The Indian squad for the first Test against Bangladesh is as follows: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yash Dayal.
