Bayern Munich continued their winning start under new head coach Vincent Kompany with a convincing 2-0 victory against Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday. The match was decided by goals from Harry Kane and Thomas Muller.
The first goal came in the 38th minute after a VAR review awarded Bayern a penalty for handball. Christian Gunter, the captain of Freiburg, had blocked a header from Kane with his arm. Kane confidently stepped up to take the penalty and sent the goalkeeper, Florian Muller, the wrong way to give Bayern the lead.
The second half saw less action until Serge Gnabry’s cross found Thomas Muller, who controlled the ball with exquisite skill before smashing it past the goalkeeper. This goal marked Muller’s 710th appearance for Bayern.
Freiburg was given a late penalty in injury time after Ritsu Doan’s volley struck the hand of Joao Palhinha. However, Lucas Holer’s attempt from the spot was unsuccessful.
With this victory, Bayern Munich continues to demonstrate their dominance in the Bundesliga, showcasing a strong start under their new manager.
