The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is geared up to reveal the T20 squad for the upcoming World Cup by the end of this month. This announcement has sparked widespread speculation and discussions within India and beyond. Even Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake, a known cricket enthusiast, took to social media to express his admiration for the Indian cricket team.
Blake, who has been actively following the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches this season, suggested that India could feasibly field three competitive teams for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. He highlighted the depth and talent within Indian cricket, emphasizing the daunting task of selecting a squad from such a wealth of talented players.
The opening spot is particularly competitive, with players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and even Virat Kohli being considered alongside captain Rohit Sharma. The wicketkeeper role is also up for grabs, with Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson all in contention.
Blake, in another post, emphasized his belief that Karthik should be included in the Indian T20 World Cup squad. “In my humble opinion, my cricket family, I strongly believe that Dinesh Karthik should indeed be picked for the team,” wrote the Jamaican runner.
