Beare Park’s resort collection opened with a captivating long dress crafted from shiny khaki silk dupioni, featuring elegant darts on the princess seams. As the model turned gracefully, two daring slits ascending to the hipbone graced the sides of the dress, revealing a touch of unexpected sensuality. This alluring design set the tone for a collection that seamlessly blended simplicity and freshness.
Later in the collection, a similar dress, this time crafted from lustrous black satin, was paired with a matching maxi skirt, transforming its character into a low-key yet utterly desirable ensemble. Beare Park co-founder Gabriella Pereira’s vision is deeply rooted in practicality. “As a female designer, I seek to create pieces that fulfill my own needs and desires,” she explained after the show held within the Art Gallery NSW. “There’s no elaborate storytelling; these are simply garments that I genuinely believe in.”
While some looks occasionally leaned towards trendy styling, Pereira’s instincts for simplicity truly shone through. A vibrant crimson red cashmere crewneck sweater was effortlessly layered beneath a matching spaghetti strap tank top, complemented by a flowing burgundy skirt. A tailored jacket/dress, almost slipping off the shoulder, exuded both sophistication and a hint of playfulness. The draped black velvet dress, with its semi-structured bodice and elegantly exposed back, showcased the power of understated elegance without relying on excessive embellishments.
Pereira’s designs are not driven by lofty inspirations but rather by a profound sense of maturity. “This collection is thoughtfully considered, with careful attention to color and layering,” she explained. An ethereal off-white sheer chiffon gown with godet insets was casually draped over straight leg jeans, highlighting the designer’s foray into denim. “There’s a hint of drama, but it remains eminently wearable,” Pereira emphasized.
