Vogue World: Paris, held on June 23rd, was a fashion spectacle unlike any other. The first-ever runway show on the Place Vendôme, the heart of Parisian luxury, saw a captivating blend of high fashion and athleticism. Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner rode horses in head-to-hoof Hermès, Sabrina Carpenter shimmered in red-and-white Jacquemus, and Serena Williams honored Virgil Abloh by wearing Ib Kamara for Off-White. These were just a few of the 132 models, celebrities, and athletes who graced the runway, celebrating a century of fashion and sport.
But how did Vogue and production company Bureau Buteak pull off this monumental event? A new video presented by Westin Hotels and Resorts offers an intimate peek behind the curtain, revealing the tireless efforts that went into making Vogue World a reality. The video captures the nine days leading up to the event, showcasing the meticulous work of stylists, choreographers, and the Vogue team, all working around the clock to create a seamless spectacle.
The action unfolds primarily at The Westin Paris, a historic hotel with roots dating back to the 19th century, which served as the unofficial headquarters for Vogue World. The hotel’s lobby, ballroom, and numerous other spaces buzzed with activity as models, fashion editors, moodboards, and clothing racks filled the space. To manage the stress, the hotel staff even provided survival kits equipped with massagers! Meanwhile, choreographer Parris Goebel and her 69 dancers rehearsed tirelessly at a local French high school, honing their choreography to perfection.
The footage also highlights the incredible craftsmanship of seamstresses and seamsters from major French fashion houses who worked tirelessly on the runway looks. For many, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. At Chanel, for example, a team meticulously remade dresses originally designed by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. “Usually you see these dresses in museums—but for once we can do it by ourselves,” says Brice Leblac, a Chanel seamster, highlighting the unique opportunity for these skilled artisans.
As model Amelia Gray tried on a beaded shift at The Westin Paris, she expressed the sheer awe and excitement of being a part of Vogue World: “I’m like, pinch me everywhere, please and thank you.” The video offers an intimate glimpse into the passion, dedication, and meticulous work that went into creating this extraordinary fashion event.
