Bengals Defensive End Trey Hendrickson Requests Trade

Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson has requested a trade from the Cincinnati Bengals, according to multiple reports. The 29-year-old, a key contributor to the Bengals’ defensive success in recent years, is seeking a long-term contract outside of Cincinnati after signing a one-year extension worth $21 million last year.

Despite his impressive performance in 2022, where Hendrickson tied for second in the NFL with 17.5 sacks and recorded 43 tackles, the Bengals are reportedly hesitant to trade him. Hendrickson has amassed 59.5 sacks, 174 tackles, 12 forced fumbles, and 119 quarterback hits in 93 career games with the Bengals and New Orleans Saints.

Hendrickson was originally selected by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. He earned Pro Bowl honors in each of the past three seasons and has established himself as one of the most formidable pass rushers in the league. Whether the Bengals will ultimately grant Hendrickson’s trade request remains to be seen, but his departure would undoubtedly leave a significant void on the team’s defense.
