The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has made a significant decision regarding the upcoming Ranji Trophy match between Bengal and Kerala, scheduled from October 26 to 29. The venue for this crucial encounter has been shifted from Kalyani to the Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata. This change was implemented due to the possibility of cyclone and rain affecting the original location.
The CAB’s decision comes after Bengal’s initial home match against Bihar at Kalyani was unfortunately abandoned without a single ball being bowled. Persistent rain led to wet patches on the outfield, rendering the pitch unplayable.
In addition to the venue change, the Bengal team has received a boost with the inclusion of two key players: pacer Ishan Porel and wicketkeeper-batter Shakir Habib Gandhi. Their inclusion comes at a time when several prominent players are unavailable due to national and international commitments. Akash Deep is currently part of the Indian team for the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, while Abhimanyu Easwaran, Mukesh Kumar, and Abishek Porel are all representing the India A squad on their tour of Australia.
The revamped Bengal team is now ready to take on Kerala in a crucial Ranji Trophy clash. The Jadavpur University ground will be the stage for this exciting match, and fans are eager to see how Bengal performs with their newly assembled squad.
