Bengaluru Entrepreneur Sparks Outrage Over ‘Brahmin Genes’ Tweet, Ignites Debate on Caste and Reservation

Anuradha Tiwari, CEO of JustBurstOut, a Bengaluru-based entrepreneur, has found herself at the center of a social media storm after posting a photo of herself with the caption ‘#Brahmin genes’. The tweet ignited widespread criticism, with many accusing Tiwari of casteism. Despite the backlash, Tiwari has defended her post, claiming that it was simply a harmless statement and that the criticism reflects a “next-level” hatred against Brahmins.

Tiwari took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her frustration, arguing that the so-called “social justice crusaders” had overreacted. She stated, “Just one harmless tweet, and the so-called social justice crusaders lost their minds. Hate against Brahmins is truly next-level.”

She further elaborated on her concerns, pointing out that while thousands had publicly declared their Brahmin identity in the aftermath of her tweet, very few politicians had shown support. This led her to question if there was an intentional effort to suppress Brahmin voices and if they were being made scapegoats for political agendas.

Tiwari also shared a screenshot of a Hindustan Times report, further highlighting the perceived discrimination against Brahmins. She went on to describe the struggles faced by Brahmins in India, highlighting their lack of opportunities due to reservation policies, despite their hard work and academic achievements.

In response to author Chetan Bhagat’s comment on the issue, Tiwari argued that the focus on unifying Hindus through hatred against Brahmins, reservation policies, and the Caste Census was misguided. She pointed out that when Brahmins attempt to stand up for themselves, they are accused of jeopardizing Hindu unity.

Tiwari’s original post, which featured a picture of her flexing her triceps, has garnered over 5.8 million views and has gone viral. This isn’t the first time Tiwari has stirred controversy. In an August 2022 post, she expressed frustration with reservation policies, claiming that she had been denied admission to a college despite scoring high marks, while her classmate, who scored significantly lower but belonged to a privileged background, was admitted.

Tiwari’s comments have sparked a heated debate on social media. While some have defended her right to express her identity, others have condemned her comments as divisive and harmful. The controversy highlights the complex and sensitive issue of caste in India, and the ongoing struggle for equality and social justice.
