Anuradha Tiwari, CEO of the content writing firm JustBurstOut, based in Bengaluru, has found herself at the center of a fresh controversy after posting a picture on X (formerly Twitter). The photo, showing Tiwari flexing her triceps, was accompanied by the controversial caption “Brahmin genes.” This seemingly innocuous post has sparked widespread outrage on social media.
The post, which has garnered over 4 million views in a day, has been met with a barrage of criticism accusing Tiwari of promoting casteism. Numerous users condemned her actions and urged her to take responsibility for her words. One user, sarcastically, commented that as a Brahmin woman, Tiwari should be confined to domestic duties. Another comment highlighted the privilege enjoyed by Tiwari, attributing it to the Indian constitution and the efforts of Dr. Ambedkar, a prominent figure in the fight for social justice.
Supreme Court advocate Shashank Ratnoo pointed out the harmful nature of associating physical attributes with caste, stating that such actions hinder efforts to build a unified India. Other users expressed their disapproval in strong terms, calling Tiwari’s post shameful and accusing her of perpetuating caste-based discrimination.
Notably, this isn’t Tiwari’s first brush with controversy. Known for her outspoken stance against caste-based reservation policies, her X bio states her belief in “One Family, One Reservation.” In an August 2022 post, she expressed her frustration with the reservation system, claiming that despite scoring 95% in her exams, she was denied admission to a college while a classmate with a lower score and a privileged background was granted admission.
The controversy surrounding Tiwari’s recent post highlights the deep-rooted issue of casteism in India and its impact on social media discourse. It has reignited discussions about reservation policies and the need for inclusivity in a society grappling with historical inequalities.
