Bengaluru, a city notorious for its traffic woes, has now added a new layer of concern to its list of problems – escalating road rage incidents. In a recent incident that has sent shockwaves across the city, a family was brutally attacked by a group of miscreants in the Kasavanahalli area. The assailants, angered by the family’s refusal to stop their car on demand, resorted to throwing stones, injuring a child who was inside the vehicle.
The victim, identified as Anoop, took to social media to share a video of the attack, sparking outrage and highlighting the growing fear and insecurity in the city. In his post on X, Anoop described the horrific incident: “Rowdies attacked my car near Amrutha college Kasavanahall. They threw a stone at my car, and my child is hospitalized.”
The video, which has gone viral, shows the family’s car being stopped by the miscreants in the middle of the road. The attackers demanded Anoop step out of the car, but when he refused, they began pelting the vehicle with stones. The windows shattered, and a child inside the car sustained injuries. The terrified woman sitting in the car can be heard screaming in the video and quickly exits the vehicle.
The reason behind the altercation remains unclear, but the incident has ignited a wave of concern and anger on social media. Users expressed their shock and demanded swift action against the accused. “Ohh my God! I stay close to this area. I haven’t seen any police patrolling during the night. That’s needed to keep such elements in check,” wrote one user. Another commented, “Is it just me? I feel this has become frequent in the Sarjapur road stretch these days. Particularly around kasavanahalli, doddakanneli and kaikondrahalli areas. What’s happening there? Anyone else feels the same?”
In response to the public outcry, Bengaluru police assured action against the culprits. The Bellandur police have taken note of the incident and are actively pursuing the attackers. However, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the escalating road rage problem in the city. This incident, coupled with a series of similar occurrences, has fueled widespread anxieties regarding safety and security in Bengaluru. The need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and more visible police presence in high-traffic areas is now more urgent than ever before.
