Indie studio Berserk Boy Games has announced their next project, ‘Berserk B.I.T.S.’, a browser-based idle RPG set to launch in early access later this year via Steam. The game draws heavy inspiration from the beloved ‘Mega Man Battle Network’ series, bringing a fresh twist to the classic formula.
Known for their critically acclaimed ‘Berserk Boy,’ a throwback to classic Mega Man games, Berserk Boy Games continues to build upon that universe, offering a pixel art nostalgic experience in a new genre. ‘Berserk B.I.T.S.’ stands out as an idle game, running within a window on your desktop alongside other applications, creating a unique blend of gameplay and accessibility.
The core gameplay loop involves the on-screen hero battling viruses and collecting chips. These chips can be used to purchase furniture and decorate a home base, adding a touch of personalization. The idle RPG component is further enhanced by the ability to hire helper programs, streamlining progress and adding another layer of depth.
The battle system, a clear nod to ‘Mega Man Battle Network,’ takes place on familiar grid-based environments. Enemies and bosses approach from the right, and players maneuver their hero up and down the grid rows to engage in combat. This auto-battler system allows for strategic input through crafting and equipping battle chips, which grant the hero powerful new attacks.
‘Berserk B.I.T.S.’ is currently scheduled for an early access launch later this year, initially supporting Windows, with plans to expand to additional platforms after launch. Berserk Boy Games has expressed their commitment to providing long-term support, promising updates with new battle chips and game modes based on community feedback.
