Bharat Gaurav Train Inaugurated for India-Nepal Cultural Journey

On Friday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the ‘Bharat Gaurav Train’ for the Bharat-Nepal Yatra at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. This special train will embark on a journey through prominent destinations in both India and Nepal, including Ayodhya, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Kashi Vishwanath, and Pashupatinath. Notably, Indian Railways has taken care of all lodging and travel arrangements for this unique cultural experience.

The Bharat Gaurav Trains initiative, launched by the Union Government under the “Dekho Apna Desh” scheme in November 2021, is a testament to the government’s commitment to boosting domestic tourism. These themed trains, designed to celebrate India’s diverse cultural heritage, offer a unique opportunity for both domestic and international travelers to delve into the country’s rich history and landmarks.

The inaugural Bharat Gaurav Train journey commenced in January 2022, connecting Coimbatore North Railway Station in Tamil Nadu to Sainagar Shirdi in Maharashtra. The defining feature of these trains lies in their focus on specific tourist routes, with tours beginning and ending at the same station. Passengers are assured of visiting all planned destinations on the itinerary, with boarding and disembarking permitted only at designated stations.

The Bharat Gaurav Trains offer a comprehensive travel experience, extending beyond just comfortable train journeys. Passengers can avail themselves of various services, including medical assistance for emergencies and a wide range of tour packages. These packages encompass off-board excursions, bus travel, hotel accommodations, meals, tour guides, and travel insurance, providing a seamless and worry-free experience. Onboard amenities like infotainment systems, CCTV cameras, and a well-equipped pantry car ensure comfort and entertainment throughout the journey.

The IRCTC Bharat Tourist Train, with a capacity of approximately 600-700 passengers, comprises a mix of Sleeper (non-AC), AC III tier, and AC II tier coaches. The train’s exterior proudly displays images of famous Indian monuments, sculptures, and landmarks, serving as a visual celebration of the country’s heritage.

For those seeking a more luxurious experience, the Deluxe AC Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train offers a premium, fully air-conditioned journey. With AC I, AC II, and AC III-tier accommodations, a modern flameless kitchen car, two dining cars, and coaches equipped with washrooms featuring shower cubicles, this train provides an unmatched level of comfort and elegance. Electronic safes in each cabin, foot massagers, infotainment systems, and CCTV cameras further enhance the travel experience. This semi-luxury train, with a capacity of 268 seats, offers a unique blend of comfort and cultural exploration, ensuring a truly unforgettable journey.

The Bharat Gaurav Trains represent a unique initiative to promote and experience India’s rich heritage through a curated travel experience. By connecting travelers with the cultural and historical essence of both India and Nepal, these themed trains serve as a powerful tool for promoting understanding and appreciation of the region’s diverse heritage.
