Biden Campaign Goes on Offensive, Targeting Trump Amid Calls for Him to Step Aside

The Biden campaign is showing no signs of slowing down in the face of calls for President Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. In fact, the campaign is intensifying its efforts, focusing on key swing states and directly targeting former President Trump.

President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and First Lady Jill Biden are all actively participating in the campaign push. This week alone, Biden met with union leaders at the AFL-CIO’s Executive Council meeting, delivered remarks, and answered questions from union leaders about the importance of unions in the election. He will also be making a major campaign stop in Detroit, Michigan on Friday, his fourth visit to the state this year, highlighting its significance in the upcoming election.

Vice President Harris hit the campaign trail in Nevada on Tuesday, a key swing state where polls currently favor Trump. She took a strong stance against Trump, tying him to the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a controversial initiative aimed at restructuring the U.S. government. She will be making another campaign stop in Greensboro, North Carolina on Thursday, a state Trump narrowly won in 2016 and 2020. This will be her sixth visit to the state this year and her 14th since taking office.

Meanwhile, First Lady Jill Biden, who has taken on a more prominent role in the campaign, launched Veterans and Military Families for Biden-Harris, a voter outreach group, on Monday in three crucial states: North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. She delivered remarks in each state and later participated in a press call focusing on Trump’s stance on abortion and Project 2025.

The Biden campaign’s efforts go beyond in-person appearances. They launched a new ad this week as part of their $50 million paid media campaign, again targeting Trump on abortion and Project 2025. Biden has been vocal in his criticism of Project 2025, despite Trump’s attempts to distance himself from it.

The Biden campaign’s aggressive approach is a direct response to mounting pressure within the Democratic Party for Biden to step aside. Despite a recent disastrous debate performance, Biden is actively working to quell the unrest within his party. He’s been actively making phone calls to party members and is expected to continue doing so this week. The Biden campaign has made it clear that they are moving full steam ahead, determined to secure a victory for Biden in the November election.
