This statement, however, appears to contradict the recent trend of Harris’s campaign distancing itself from Biden’s policies and record.
The Harris campaign has been striving to create some separation from the Biden administration, particularly concerning issues like “Bidenomics,” inflation, and the border crisis. This strategy reflects the campaign’s effort to appeal to voters who may hold reservations about these issues, and also seeks to address Harris’s own low approval ratings.
Harris has even taken steps to differentiate her economic policies from Biden’s, such as proposing a lower capital gains tax rate than the one included in Biden’s fiscal year 2025 plan. Additionally, she has insisted she was not in charge of the Biden administration’s border policy, despite being entrusted with the task by Biden in March 2021.
While Biden’s comments seem to contradict these attempts at separation, they also suggest he may be unhappy with his Vice President’s distancing tactics. He has also hinted that he believes he could have won the election had he not withdrawn from the race.
