Biden To Sign $95 Billion Foreign Aid Package Following Senate Approval

President Biden commended the Senate for passing a $95 billion emergency foreign aid package, expressing his intention to sign the legislation into law on Wednesday. Biden stated that the package signifies the strength of American leadership and the nation’s unwavering support for democracy and freedom against tyranny and oppression. The Senate voted 79-18 in favor of the legislation, which allocates significant funding to Ukraine ($61 billion), Israel ($15 billion), Gaza ($9 billion), and the Indo-Pacific region ($8 billion). It also includes provisions to address concerns over Chinese influence through the ownership of popular app TikTok. Biden acknowledged the bipartisan efforts in the Senate and emphasized that the legislation will enhance national and global security. The package will facilitate the immediate delivery of weapons and equipment to Ukraine, aiding its ongoing fight against Russian aggression. The White House had previously urged lawmakers to approve additional aid for Ukraine as it faces continued aggression from Russia, despite opposition from some conservative Republicans.
