Big Spring Halts Waynesboro’s Momentum in Colonial Division Matchup

Big Spring came into Tuesday’s Colonial Division clash with Waynesboro riding high as one of the hottest teams in the Mid-Penn Conference. However, it took a workmanlike seven-inning performance by left-handed pitcher Brody Daywalt and a clutch double from Kellan Smith to stop the Bulldogs’ momentum.

Daywalt scattered five hits and three walks while striking out four batters in his complete-game effort. Smith delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring two runs and giving Big Spring a much-needed lead.

The victory snapped Waynesboro’s four-game winning streak and kept Big Spring in the hunt for a Colonial Division title. The Bulldogs, who are now 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the division, will face Greencastle-Antrim on Thursday.

Waynesboro, which dropped to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the division, will be back in action on Wednesday against Chambersburg.
