Big-Ticket Players Finally Making Impact in IPL: Cummins and Starc’s Heroics at Death; Harshal’s Wicket-Taking Yorkers

Mitchell Starc

(24.75 cr – KKR)

After a disappointing start to his IPL season, Starc has showcased his class with a match-winning spell against Mumbai Indians. Defending a modest 169, he provided the crucial breakthrough with the new ball and then delivered a terrific 17th over, conceding just 3 runs against the dangerous Tim David. Starc’s performance has reignited hopes that he can unleash his lethal best for KKR.

Pat Cummins

(20.5 cr – SRH)

Cummins has been a standout performer for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but his performances against the Challengers and Super Kings were forgettable. However, he bounced back with a match-winning spell at the death against the Royals, delivering a crucial 16th over and restricting the opposition’s run flow in the penultimate over. Cummins has 12 wickets in 10 matches and has produced defining performances with the ball.

Harshal Patel

(11.75 cr – PBKS)

Harshal Patel has joined Jasprit Bumrah at the top of the wickets-chart with three high-impact performances in his last five outings. Patel has been brilliant in the death overs, bagging seven wickets in just 24 deliveries at an economy of 5 against Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Chennai Super Kings. His ability to pick wickets in the last four overs makes him a high-impact bowler this season.

Daryl Mitchell

(14 cr – CSK)

Despite a couple of decent outings, Mitchell has had a poor campaign with the bat for CSK. The New Zealand World Cup hero has just 229 runs in 10 innings and has struggled against pace, scoring at a strike rate of 125.6. Mitchell needs to improve his strike rate in the early stages of his innings to convert starts into significant scores.

Alzarri Joseph

(11.75 cr – RCB)

Joseph has made a disappointing start to his RCB career, picking up just one wicket in three fixtures and getting hit for 11.89 runs per over. He was brought in as a death-over specialist but has failed to justify his price tag so far.

Spencer Johnson

(10 cr – GT)

Australia’s young pace sensation Johnson had a fine start to his IPL campaign but has seen his form decline in recent matches. He has just one wicket in his last three outings and needs to regain his form to be a regular feature in the Gujarat Titans’ playing XI.

Sameer Rizvi

(8.4 cr – CSK)

Rizvi has yet to showcase his destructive batting prowess for CSK, scoring just 36 runs at a strike rate of 102.9. The lower-order hitter needs to make a significant contribution to justify his price tag.

Rilee Rossouw

(8 cr – PBKS)

A late entrant to the PBKS XI, the South African middle-order star has already produced two cameos in the tournament. After failing in his first couple of outings, Rossouw has shown glimpses of his batting prowess with a 16-ball 26 against KKR and a 23-ball 43 against CSK.

Rovman Powell

(7.4 cr – RR)

The West Indies T20I skipper has also made a late entry in the tournament but has already impressed with a couple of cameos from the lower-order. Powell smashed 26 off 13 against KKR and 27 off 15 against SRH. The Royals need to push him ahead of Shimron Hetmyer to maximize their run-scoring at the death.

Shahrukh Khan

(7.4 cr – GT)

After four failures with the bat, Shahrukh Khan finally showcased his hitting prowess for the Titans, smashing 58 off 30 balls against the Challengers. He took a liking to their bowling and produced another cameo in the return-leg, hammering 37 off 24 deliveries.
