A biker in Tambaram, Chennai, was slapped with a hefty fine of ₹12,000 for committing multiple traffic violations. The biker, identified as G Mohandoss of Mogappair, was caught on camera riding his high-end motorcycle recklessly. His bike, modified with an illegally altered silencer, generated loud and disruptive noise, making it impossible to miss his presence. Additionally, he was not wearing a helmet, further adding to his transgressions.
Another biker, who witnessed Mohandoss’s blatant disregard for traffic rules, captured the incident on video and shared it with the police. The Tambaram city police, utilizing the vehicle’s registration number from the footage, tracked down Mohandoss and booked him for a series of offences. These included speeding, riding without a helmet, rash and negligent riding, and violating air noise pollution standards through the illegal modification of his motorcycle’s silencer.
Police officers, upon verifying the vehicle documents, issued Mohandoss multiple challans. Notably, the violation of noise pollution standards alone amounted to ₹10,000. The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on motorists who illegally modify their vehicles’ silencers, emphasizing their dedication to maintaining public safety and order.
This incident comes on the heels of several other high-profile cases involving traffic rule violations. Actor Prashanth was recently fined ₹2000 for riding a bike without a helmet during a video interview, despite claiming his actions were intended to raise awareness about road safety.
In Gurgaon, a technical glitch hindered the launch of a new system for on-the-spot fine collection by traffic police. The updated devices failed to generate the necessary QR codes for digital payments, forcing officers to revert to the traditional method of issuing physical challans. Efforts are underway to resolve the issue and streamline the fine payment process, aiming to reduce corruption and improve efficiency.
Meanwhile, a tragic accident in Andheri, Mumbai, resulted in the death of a woman and critical injuries to a biker. CCTV footage revealed that the biker, Ayush Khandari, was riding at high speed before colliding with a divider. The police have charged Khandari with negligence based on the evidence. These incidents serve as stark reminders of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and prioritizing road safety to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of all road users.
