Nayel Nassar, the son-in-law of billionaire Bill Gates, is set to compete in the equestrian jumping event at the 2024 Paris Olympics representing Egypt. This will be Nassar’s third Olympic participation, showcasing his dedication to the sport. Nassar married Jennifer Gates, the eldest daughter of the former Microsoft CEO, in 2021. Their love story blossomed on the equestrian circuit, where they met years prior. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2023 and recently announced they are expecting another baby.
Nassar’s equestrian journey began at the tender age of five, with him starting jumping at ten. His dedication to the sport has led him to compete in numerous international events, including the prestigious International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) Show Jumping World Cup and FEI World Equestrian Games. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, the 33-year-old equestrian achieved a commendable 16th position in the team event and a 24th position in the individual event.
In anticipation of the Paris Olympics, Nassar received well wishes from his mother-in-law, Melinda Gates. In a supportive Instagram post, the American philanthropist shared Nassar’s photo with the caption, “So excited to watch you compete at the Olympics, @nayelnassar! I’m rooting for you.”
Jennifer Gates, Nassar’s wife and Bill Gates’ daughter, was born in 1996. She is the eldest of three children, followed by Rory, 25, and Phoebe, 21. Bill and Melinda Gates separated in 2022 after nearly 27 years of marriage, finalizing their divorce in 2024. Despite their separation, the two continue to be present in their children’s lives, often appearing together in public. The Gates family is about to welcome another member as Jennifer prepares to give birth to their second child. Meanwhile, Jennifer’s sister, Phoebe, has graduated from Stanford University with a degree in human biology.
