Ranchi Bird Flu Outbreak: 4,000 Birds Culled

The Jharkhand government has issued an alert following the confirmation of multiple bird flu cases at the Regional Poultry Farm in Hotwar, Ranchi. As a precautionary measure, around 4,000 birds, including chickens, have been culled and hundreds of eggs destroyed.

Acting on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), officials have disposed of 1745 chickens, 450 ducks, and 1697 eggs from the affected farm. Additionally, the production and sale of chicken, duck, and eggs have been prohibited within a one-kilometer radius of the area.

To prevent the spread of the virus, the import and export of chickens are strictly prohibited during the ban period. The Animal Husbandry Department has instructed the disposal of all eggs, chickens, and ducks within the one-kilometer radius.

Poultry farm staff, including veterinarians, have been directed to conduct awareness campaigns in the surrounding areas to inform residents about the outbreak and preventive measures.
