The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a chargesheet against the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government in Odisha, highlighting 14 major issues that the state is facing. The chargesheet includes allegations of deteriorating law and order, poor health services, corruption, unemployment, and neglect of farmers and tribals.
The BJP’s chargesheet was released by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, who accused the BJD government of failing to provide security to women, employment to youth, quality education to students, and protect the cultural pride of the state.
The chargesheet contains 25 questions for the government, covering issues such as the alleged promotion of liquor sales, poor health services, rural migration due to lack of employment, loot of mines, problems in paddy procurement, lack of motorable roads in tribal areas, insult to Odia pride, and the use of government funds for election campaigns.
BJP state president, Manmohan Samal, accused the BJD-led government of destroying ancient mutts and heritage in the name of developing religious sites, and insulting Lord Jagannath by carrying the idol on tractors and trolleys during the promotion of the Parikrama project.
The BJP has named the report “a box of sins of 25 years” and has asked the people to provide their comments on the chargesheet and take an oath to bring change in the state, with the tagline, “We will bring change in Odisha”.
