The political battle in Karnataka has intensified with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi launching a blistering attack on the D’Cunha Commission and its findings. Joshi, a key figure in the BJP, accused Justice Michael D’Cunha of acting as an ‘agent’ and targeting the BJP in the run-up to the state elections. He slammed the commission’s interim report, which recommended the prosecution of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Health Minister B Sriramulu over the procurement of 3 lakh PPE kits from Chinese firms during the pandemic in 2020.
Joshi, speaking at a public meeting in Shiggaon, questioned the timing of the report’s release, suggesting it was a deliberate attempt to influence the elections. He highlighted the commission’s failure to issue notices to Yediyurappa and Ramulu before releasing the report.
His attack wasn’t limited to the D’Cunha Commission. Joshi also took aim at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, alleging corruption and using tactics to divert attention from his own alleged wrongdoings. He pointed to the Valmiki scandal, where Siddaramaiah allegedly embezzled ₹90 crore, and accused the CM of employing similar tactics in the PPE kit issue.
Joshi further emphasized that the High Court had found Siddaramaiah guilty of the MUDA scam but questioned why no court had ever asked Yediyurappa to resign. He criticized the incumbent Congress government’s policies, including the increase in milk and alcohol prices and the issuance of Waqf notices on farmers’ land.
The Union Minister’s fiery speech highlights the escalating political tension in Karnataka ahead of the crucial elections. With accusations flying thick and fast, the campaign promises to be a heated battle for political dominance in the state.
