BJP Will Never Change Constitution, Scrap Reservations: Amit Shah

Amit Shah, a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently stated that the Modi government has no plans to amend the Constitution or abolish reservations for Dalits, tribals, and OBCs. He emphasized that the BJP’s unwavering commitment to these principles will prevent the Congress from repealing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Shah highlighted the significant achievements of the BJP-led government, including the revocation of Article 370, the effective combat against terrorism, and the prohibition of instant triple talaq. He accused the opposition of fabricating stories about the BJP’s supposed intentions to alter the Constitution should it secure over 400 Lok Sabha seats.

Furthermore, Shah criticized the Congress for impeding the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He drew parallels between Modi’s journey and the traditional ‘Kavad Yatra’, a pilgrimage undertaken by devotees of Lord Shiva in Akola. Shah expressed optimism that India will emerge as the world’s third-largest economy under Modi’s continued leadership.

Addressing the crowd in Akola, Shah praised the ‘Mahayuti’ government in Maharashtra for its remarkable development initiatives over the past few years. He emphasized the BJP’s commitment to expanding irrigation facilities in the Vidarbha region, highlighting the ambitious Rs 89,000-crore Painganga interlinking project. Shah questioned former Union Minister Sharad Pawar about the contributions of the “Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan government” to Maharashtra during its decade-long tenure.

In contrast, Shah highlighted the substantial financial support provided by the NDA government to Maharashtra, amounting to Rs 7.14 lakh crore over the past 10 years. He contrasted this with the Congress-led government’s allocation of only Rs 1.91 lakh crore to the state during its rule from 2004 to 2014.

Shah concluded his speech by criticizing the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, comprising the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP), for their inability to contribute positively to Maharashtra’s progress. He urged voters to support the BJP and ensure its return to power at the Centre.
