Tripura Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath has announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for BJP workers in the Khowai Assembly segment if their booth records the highest percentage of voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
There are 52 polling booths in the Khowai Assembly segment under the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. Voting for the East Tripura seat will be held in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.
Speaking to BJP supporters while overseeing the party’s poll preparedness, Nath said, “I will personally reward the booth committee that would notch up the highest percentage of voting in Khowai.”
In a video available with this publication, Nath was also heard saying, “I don’t do politics through cheating. You can vote as per your wish. But do tell me if there is any good party apart from the BJP?”
He further claimed that there was a possibility that the Opposition INDIA Bloc candidate would lose his security deposit in the East Tripura constituency.
Nath also said the Opposition failed to deploy polling agents during the election to the West Tripura constituency on April 19 but was instead blaming the BJP for indulging in booth rigging.
