Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency BJP candidate Capt. Brijesh Chowta has expressed his intention to correct the ‘communally sensitive’ tag associated with the district, which he believes has been created by a few individuals. Chowta emphasized that the people of the region are peace-loving and inclusive, and he plans to consult with stakeholders to develop a strategy for moving forward.
“Our people are peace-loving and accept diverse cultures. Hindutva is about inclusion. Those with a specific agenda are attempting to brand Dakshina Kannada district. I need the support of the public to correct the wrong narrative,” Chowta said.
He outlined his priorities for the district, including promoting economic growth through infrastructure development, software industries, and cultural heritage preservation.
“We will consult all stakeholders and strategically plan how to move ahead. I have worked in different parts of the country. There is a perception and reality. The reality is that the communally sensitive tag is hurting the sentiments of the people,” Chowta added.
He further said that he would hold regular open interactions with the public through ‘Catch up with Captain’ to learn more about the aspirations of the people.
“I have plans to work towards setting up a Tulunadu Heritage Experience Centre and strive to ensure the Tulu language gets its due recognition and seek to avail an intangible cultural heritage for the same,” Chowta said.
Chowta also stressed the need to check on Islamic fundamentalists sowing anti-national and anti-social sentiments in young Muslim youths.
“My commitment is towards Hindutva, and my priority will be the development of the district,” Chowta asserted.
