Addressing a public rally in Rewa, BJP national president JP Nadda announced a significant expansion of health coverage under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the scheme’s benefits to include any person above 70 years of age and people from the transgender community, providing them with a health cover of Rs 5 lakh. This move fulfills a commitment made in the BJP’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections.
Nadda hailed Prime Minister Modi’s transformational impact on politics, highlighting his efforts to change the culture, definition, style, and approach of political discourse. He was speaking at a rally in support of BJP candidate Janardan Mishra, the sitting MP from Rewa, who is facing Nilam Mishra from the Congress party.
Nadda also highlighted the BJP’s accomplishments in recent years, particularly in areas such as electricity provision and the ‘Har Ghar Jal, Har Ghar Nal’ initiative, which aims to provide every household with access to water. He mentioned the construction of over 4 crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and pledged to build 3 crore more houses in the next term.
The voting for the Rewa Lok Sabha seat is scheduled to take place on April 26, as part of the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Earlier in the day, Nadda held a rally in the Tikamgarh Lok Sabha Constituency.
Madhya Pradesh has a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, making it the sixth-largest state in terms of members it sends to the Lower House. Of these, 10 seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates, while the remaining 19 are unreserved.
