BJP’s Thiruvananthapuram candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar responded strongly to Congress candidate Shashi Tharoor’s remarks about his vision paper for the approaching Lok Sabha elections on April 23.
Chandrasekhar told ANI that he does not require approval from someone who has made no meaningful contributions in the previous 15 years. He also stated that he sees the role of an MP as being accountable, responsive, and empathetic, and that when he detects challenges, he strives to resolve them.
“It’s alright. I don’t need testimonials from someone who hasn’t contributed in 15 years. If he believes representing his constituents entails accomplishing nothing, that is his interpretation of the job. My interpretation is that as a responsible, responsive, and empathetic MP, when I recognize issues, I endeavor to find solutions. He chooses to write letters in the face of challenges…” Chandrasekhar stated.
Earlier, Shashi Tharoor expressed his opinion on Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s introduction of a vision document for the Thiruvananthapuram constituency, saying, “I’ve been too busy to examine it. From what I understand, he lacks comprehension of an MP’s responsibilities… It’s an absurd concept; he has no idea what an MP can and cannot accomplish…”.
