YouTube Music Black Screen Bug Plagues iOS Users
A widespread bug has emerged on YouTube Music for iOS, rendering the app unusable for many users. The issue manifests as a black screen that appears when the app is opened, preventing users from accessing any songs or navigating the app’s interface. According to 9to5Google, the bug affects only specific Google Accounts and is not resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
In addition to the black screen issue, some iPhone users have reported another peculiar problem. The traditional next and previous buttons have been replaced with 30-second forward and 10-second rewind buttons. While this feature may be useful for podcasts, it is inconvenient for music playback, as 9to5Google points out.
The black screen bug appears to be limited to iOS devices, as the Android app is reportedly functioning normally. 9to5Google speculates that the issue is server-side, given that the latest app update was released over the weekend. This suggests that a fix may be implemented without requiring users to update the app on their devices.
While a solution is awaited, some users have found a temporary workaround. By logging into a different account, they can access YouTube Music and listen to music with ads. However, their YouTube Premium subscription and library remain inaccessible on the affected account.
The issue has been reported to YouTube Music support, and users can expect an official fix in the near future. In the meantime, those affected by the bug may have to resort to alternative music streaming services or use the aforementioned workaround.
