In ‘Blink Twice’, Zoe Kravitz’s haunting thriller, Channing Tatum embodies the enigmatic tech billionaire Slater King, whose secluded island becomes the setting for a sinister game. Naomi Ackie plays Friday, a cocktail waitress lured to the island’s alluring facade, along with Alia Shawkat. As the trailer unveils, the idyllic setting transforms into a web of deceit and terror. Phones vanish, individuals disappear without a trace, and unsettling smiles mask sinister intentions.
An air of unease permeates the island as Ackie’s character expresses, ‘I feel like I’m forgetting a lot of stuff.’ The question arises, ‘What’s making us forget?’ The boundaries between reality and illusion blur, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats as they witness the unraveling of King’s sinister plot.
Kravitz, who serves as one of the film’s producers, brings her unique vision to the screen, alongside a talented team including Bruce Cohen, Garret Levitz, and Tiffany Persons. Jordan Harkins and Stacy Perskie lend their expertise as executive producers. Notably, Kravitz and Tatum’s real-life engagement evolved from their initial encounter on the film’s set, which was originally titled ‘Pussy Island’.
In a 2022 interview with GQ, Kravitz shared her admiration for Tatum’s performance, describing him as her ‘protector’ on set. She remarked, ‘That’s exciting to watch someone who’s mostly played boy next door, good guy, love interest, all of that.’ Kravitz recognized Tatum’s willingness to explore the darker aspects of his character, acknowledging that he possesses a depth beyond his previous roles.
