Bloomingdale’s Celebrates Italian Culture with a ‘From Italy, With Love’ Extravaganza

Bloomingdale’s recently hosted a glamorous event celebrating all things Italian, aptly titled ‘From Italy, With Love.’ The 59th Street store was transformed into an emporium of Italian design and luxury, showcasing new brands like La DoubleJ, Fendi, and Etro, along with a stellar collaboration with the Milanese design fair Salone del Mobile in the homeware department.

The event was a true celebration of Italian culture, with a delightful blend of fashion, food, and entertainment. Guests were treated to a taste of La Dolce Vita, with delicious bites from Sant Ambroeus and artful displays of mozzarella, tomatoes, and green olives by Laila Gohar of LG Studio. The atmosphere was further enhanced by opera performances in the Academy Mansion’s inner courtyard, where Soprano Erin Morley and Tenor Jamez McCorckle serenaded the crowd with Puccini classics in honor of the composer’s centenary. DJ Stretch Armstrong provided a steady stream of tunes between the operatic bursts.

The event attracted a star-studded guest list, including actress Christine Baranski, who was on hand to celebrate her role as a hostess for the event. Other notable attendees included Isabella Rossellini, Tiffany Haddish, director Paul Feig, Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Nasanin Nuri, Georgia Fowler, JJ Martin, Amy Fine Collins, and Alexandra O’Neill.

The evening was co-hosted by Bloomingdale’s CEO Olivier Bron and Air Mail’s Graydon Carter, and it was a unique blend of Dolce Vita and “Gilded Age” sensibilities. The event took place on the eve of New York Fashion Week, allowing guests to extend their summer holidays just a bit before the whirlwind of runway shows began.

Bron acknowledged the unique timing of the event, noting that many New Yorkers were likely returning from Italian vacations. The event, therefore, offered a delightful way to soften the blow of returning to reality and to continue celebrating the Italian spirit. Overall, it was a night of glamour, entertainment, and a celebration of all things Italian, making it a truly unforgettable event for guests and attendees alike.
