Cast members of the popular CBS police drama “Blue Bloods” have expressed their sadness over the show’s cancellation after 14 seasons. Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan, and Bridget Moynahan, who portrays his sister Erin, recently appeared on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to discuss the remaining episodes and their emotions surrounding the show’s end.
Wahlberg admitted that the cast is “more upset and sad” about the cancellation and that they are still coming to terms with the beloved drama ending soon. Moynahan agreed, adding that the show has created a family atmosphere among the cast and crew.
“I think it’s more saying goodbye to the people behind the characters,” Moynahan said. “We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew.”
Wahlberg echoed Moynahan’s sentiments, emphasizing the close bonds they have formed over the years. “Most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths, and everything,” he said. “We’ve been through it all with each other.”
Fans of the show have also expressed their disappointment over the cancellation, with many pleading with CBS to reconsider. Tom Selleck, who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan and is also an executive producer on the drama, has indicated a willingness to continue the show beyond its 14th season despite the cancellation.
“They say it’s an eight-episode wind-down, and I say, ‘We’ll see,'” Selleck said in a recent interview. “Look, I’ll do whatever is best for the whole situation, but I love this show, obviously.”
Whether CBS will change its mind and renew “Blue Bloods” for another season remains to be seen, but the cast and fans alike are hoping for a positive outcome.
