Blue Finch Films, a U.K.-based sales and distribution company, has acquired the worldwide rights, excluding Canada, to the 1980s-set wrestling action-horror film ‘Dark Match.’ Written and directed by Lowell Dean, the film stars professional wrestler and rock musician Chris Jericho along with Steven Ogg and Ayisha Issa.
In ‘Dark Match,’ a small-time wrestling company accepts a lucrative gig in a remote town, only to uncover that the community is governed by an enigmatic cult leader with sinister intentions for their match. As darkness descends, Miss Behave and her fellow wrestlers are thrust into a life-or-death struggle against one another.
Blue Finch Films will commence sales for ‘Dark Match’ at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. The film is slated for release later this year, with its festival premiere announcement forthcoming.
‘Dark Match’ was produced by John K. MacDonald, Don Depoe, Michael Feehan, Michael Peterson, and Rhonda Baker of Dept. 9 Studios. Dean expressed his enthusiasm for the film’s production, stating that despite initial doubts about its feasibility, he was thrilled to witness the dedication of the cast and crew in bringing the film to life.
Mike Chapman of Blue Finch Films praised the film’s unique blend of action and occult elements, highlighting its ability to deliver on all fronts and enthrall audiences.
Blue Finch Films’ international slate boasts an impressive lineup, including the Steven Soderbergh-presented ‘Cold Wallet,’ the Sydney-winning ‘Birdeater,’ and the SXSW-winning ‘Oddity.’
