## BLUETTI Partners with UN-Habitat to Power Sustainable Development in Africa
At the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo, BLUETTI, a global leader in clean energy storage solutions, announced a significant partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). This strategic collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of clean energy and drive sustainable development across Africa.
The WUF12, focusing on the theme “It All Starts at Home: Local actions for sustainable cities and communities,” underscores the critical need for localized initiatives to address challenges like affordable housing, climate change, rising living costs, and limited access to basic services. This theme perfectly aligns with BLUETTI’s commitment to creating a better world through sustainable energy.
The focus on local action is especially relevant in Africa, where millions of people lack reliable electricity access. This lack of power hinders daily life, restricts educational and job opportunities, and perpetuates poverty. Recognizing these challenges, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat signed a “Technology Transfer” Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the forum, marking a crucial step towards accelerating the adoption of renewable energy technologies in Africa.
Key initiatives outlined in the MOU include training electricians and providing clean energy education through BLUETTI’s “Lighting An African Family” (LAAF) program. This program empowers communities with the skills and knowledge needed to embrace sustainable energy, fostering local energy resilience.
“This collaboration with UN-Habitat is a significant milestone in our mission to advance sustainable development across Africa,” said Liting Huang, LAAF Program Manager. “Since 2021, our LAAF program has empowered over 15,000 off-grid families with solar power. We now plan to expand our reach by providing comprehensive training to 30,000-50,000 residents and students in Sub-Saharan African countries. We are thrilled to expand these efforts to uplift even more communities through renewable energy and education.”
