Boeing Experiences Production Delays for 787 Dreamliners
Due to supplier shortages of crucial components, Boeing has informed its employees of anticipated slower production and deliveries of new 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
This news follows previous production and delivery setbacks for Boeing’s 737 Max planes, which were grounded after a near-catastrophe in January. Additionally, Boeing has been working to increase 787 Dreamliner production after quality issues halted deliveries for almost two years, ending in mid-2022.
Vice president and general manager of the 787 program, Scott Stocker, stated in a memo to staff at Boeing’s South Carolina 787 plant, “We continue to take steps to improve the overall health of our production system, putting into action your ideas for improving safety, first-pass quality, training, performing more work in sequence and ensuring our teams have the necessary resources to excel.”
Stocker acknowledged that Boeing is still facing supplier shortages and shared with customers the expectation of a slower increase in production and deliveries. However, the company intends to gradually increase the rate of production due to the high demand for the 787 Dreamliners.
Boeing’s quarterly results are expected to be released on Wednesday, along with further details on its production plans.
