Bomb Threat at Delhi Airport: Plane to Dubai Checked, No Explosive Found

A Dubai-bound plane departing from Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi received a bomb threat via email on Monday. Authorities confirmed the incident, stating that an email containing the threat was received at the airport’s DIAL office at 9:35 am. A comprehensive inspection of the aircraft was conducted, but no suspicious objects were found.

This incident is the latest in a string of bomb threats targeting various locations in Delhi over the past few months. These threats have included schools, museums, and health institutes. While the threats have been numerous, no actual bombs have been discovered in the national capital.

On June 12th, two museums — the National Museum and the Rail Museum, along with two mental health institutes — IHBAS (Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences) and VIMHANS (Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health, Neuro and Allied Sciences) — received bomb threat emails. The National Museum, located on Kartavya Path, the Rail Museum in Chanakyapuri, the Gandhi Museum in Daryaganj, and several other locations also received similar emails, claiming bombs had been planted. Two medical facilities — IHBAS in Shahdara and Vimhans Hospital in Lajpat Nagar — also received threat emails containing the same message.

Upon receiving these threats, bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, fire officials, and local police thoroughly searched the affected installations. However, no suspicious objects were found at any of the locations.

Prior to the recent string of threats, Delhi’s Chacha Nehru Hospital also received a bomb threat on April 30th. On May 1st, over 150 schools were targeted via emails originating from a Russia-based mailing service company. On May 12th, twenty hospitals, the IGI Airport, and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office in Delhi received bomb threats through emails from a Cyprus-based mailing service company. This same Cyprus-based company was responsible for bomb threats sent to seven Delhi hospitals and the Tihar jail on May 14th. On May 22nd, the North Block, housing the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs, received a bomb threat email using a gmail.com domain.

The Delhi Police Special Cell is actively investigating these email bomb threats.
