The Bombay High Court on Thursday issued a notice to BJP MLA Nitesh Rane in a petition filed by the Maharashtra government seeking cancellation of bail granted by the Sindhudurg session court in February 2022 in an attempt to murder case.
A single-judge bench of Justice Prithviraj K Chavan issued a notice to Nitesh Rane, seeking his response in the criminal application by the state government filed in 2022.
Nitesh Rane, son of Union Minister Narayan Rane, was arrested in connection with an alleged road rage incident on December 18, 2021. As per the police, the complainant Santosh Parab, a Sena functionary, was commuting on a bike from Naravde naka in Kankavli, when an Innova without a number plate hit his two-wheeler.
The sessions court in Sindhudurg granted bail to Nitesh Rane in February, 2022, after which the state government had approached the High Court seeking cancellation of his bail.
