The Bombay High Court has directed the Mumbai Police to provide an update on the investigation into the murder of former Shiv Sena corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar. The court has asked the police to submit the Call Data Records (CDRs) and their analysis, as well as CCTV footage from the incident.
Tejasvee Ghosalkar, the widow of the deceased, has filed a plea with the court seeking the transfer of the case to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) or the CBI. The court has instructed the Mumbai Police to arrange a meeting between Tejasvee and the concerned DCP to address her concerns regarding the investigation.
The Mumbai Police informed the court that the probe is being supervised by an officer of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) rank.
Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of former Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Vinod Ghosalkar, was shot dead in Borivali, Mumbai on February 8, during a social media live session. His alleged killer, Mauris Noronha, 47, later died by suicide. The police arrested Noronha’s bodyguard, Amarendra Mishra, the following day.
Tejasvee has claimed in her petition that the investigation conducted by the Mumbai Police has not made any significant progress and the pace of the probe is unsatisfactory. She has also raised concerns about whether Mishra’s weapon was legally procured.
The court has adjourned the hearing for two weeks, requesting the police to submit detailed information on the investigation’s progress during the next hearing.
