Bose has expanded its popular SoundLink lineup with the introduction of the SoundLink Home, a sleek and compact Bluetooth speaker designed for indoor use. This new addition boasts a streamlined design that makes it a stylish addition to any room, while its compact size makes it easy to move from one location to another within your home.
The SoundLink Home prioritizes a user-friendly experience by eliminating the need for an accompanying app. Simply power up the speaker and pair it with your favorite smartphone via Bluetooth. You can even connect two phones simultaneously using Bluetooth Multipoint, letting you and a friend take turns enjoying your favorite playlists.
While the lack of app compatibility means the SoundLink Home can’t be wirelessly connected to other Bose products like the Bose Smart Soundbar or utilize party mode, its focus on simplicity and portability makes it an ideal choice for casual listening within your home.
Bose claims that the SoundLink Home’s compact size doesn’t compromise sound quality. Underneath the fabric grille lies a full-range transducer with dual passive radiators, designed to deliver deep bass that fills any room. You can control volume, power, and Bluetooth pairing through physical buttons conveniently located on the top surface of the speaker.
The SoundLink Home is powered by an internal battery that offers up to nine hours of playtime when the volume is set at 50% or lower. However, if you’re looking for that booming sound at full volume, you’ll be able to enjoy approximately 2.5 hours of playtime. The speaker can be charged via the conveniently placed USB-C port on the side. This port also doubles as an input for wired audio sources, allowing you to connect devices like your computer or a USB-C equipped phone. While there’s no analog input, a built-in microphone enables the speaker to double as a speakerphone for hands-free calls and access to your phone’s voice assistant.
Despite its impressive features, the SoundLink Home is specifically intended for indoor use. It lacks any official water or dust protection, and Bose advises against using it in environments with high humidity like bathrooms.
The Bose SoundLink Home is available in Light Silver, Cool Gray, and Warm Wood (for China) and is priced at $219. It is currently available for purchase exclusively on Bose’s website. If you’re seeking a sleek, portable Bluetooth speaker that delivers a rich audio experience, and you primarily listen to music at home, the SoundLink Home could be an excellent option for you.
