Boult Enters the Soundbar Market with Focus on Immersive TV Viewing and Affordability
Boult, a well-known Indian brand in the TWS and smartwatch segments, has made its foray into the soundbar market with the introduction of two new models: the BassBox X180 and BassBox X120. The company’s mission is to provide an immersive TV viewing experience to its customers without breaking the bank, as evidenced by the competitive pricing of these soundbars starting at Rs 4,999.
The BassBox X180, in particular, boasts an impressive 180-watt peak output and a wired subwoofer for enhanced bass performance. It features a 2.1 channel setup, Bluetooth v5.3 connectivity, multiple input options including AUX, USB, Optical, and HDMI, and four full-range BoomX drivers. Understanding the importance of bass in the Indian audio market, Boult has positioned its soundbars as “India’s first bass-transforming soundbars.”
Market Demand and Boult’s Competitive Edge
The launch of the Boult BassBox soundbars comes amidst a surge in soundbar sales in India, with projections indicating a significant increase from 32.7 million units in 2023 to 50 million units in the current year. While there are limited options available under Rs 5,000, Boult has sought to differentiate its offerings by packing in a range of features.
The BassBox soundbars are designed to deliver an immersive experience by strategically channeling the speakers to bounce sound waves off walls and create a surround-sound effect. The company has also incorporated an extra-large subwoofer and additional speaker drivers to enhance the bass and overall audio output.
Boult’s Commitment to Indian Manufacturing and Sustainability
Boult takes pride in its “Make in India” initiative, with all its products being manufactured domestically except for the semiconductors. The company is also committed to sustainability, utilizing recyclable plastic in some of its products and minimizing the use of plastic in packaging and shipping.
Upcoming AI Integration
Boult is actively working on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its audio products to enhance ease of use. While the company did not provide specific details, they hinted at a major launch in this area by the next quarter of 2024, potentially introducing AI-enabled capabilities that allow users to interact with apps through voice commands.
