Brad Pitt’s Formula One Movie Set for June 2024 Release

Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula One movie, as yet untitled, is set to hit theaters worldwide on June 25, 2024, with a North American debut two days later. The news was announced jointly by Formula One and Apple Original Films on Tuesday. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for the blockbuster ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ is being produced with the full cooperation of Formula One teams and drivers.

Jerry Bruckheimer, renowned producer, is overseeing the project, while seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is serving as a co-producer. Filming commenced last year and has continued throughout the current season, taking place during select Grand Prix weekends. To immerse viewers in the world of Formula One, the production team has established a fictional 11th team named ‘APX GP,’ complete with a garage and pitwall presence.

The plot revolves around Pitt, who at 60 years old, portrays a former driver making a dramatic comeback to Formula One. He is paired with Damson Idris, who plays his rookie teammate, within the fictional APX team. Joining the cast are Academy Award winner Javier Bardem and best supporting actress nominee Kerry Condon. Formula One has confirmed that production will conclude at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December.

The sport is hoping the movie will capitalize on the success of the Netflix docu-series ‘Drive to Survive,’ which has significantly boosted Formula One’s popularity and growth globally, particularly in the crucial U.S. market. Formula One now boasts three races in the United States, held in Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas.

“We’ve already seen the great work and impact of the Netflix show and I think this will take it to new heights beyond that,” commented Mercedes driver Hamilton, who will be joining Ferrari at the end of the season. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in theaters and IMAX, promising a captivating cinematic experience for fans and newcomers alike.
