Adriano Assis, a resident of Rio de Janeiro, was scheduled to be on the fateful Voepass Airlines flight that crashed, claiming the lives of 61 people. However, Assis arrived late at the airport after finishing his shift at a local hospital, causing him to miss the flight.
Assis described the chaotic scene at the airport, stating that he reached the check-in counter at 9:40 AM but was unable to board the Cascavel flight to Guarulhos due to an airport mix-up. He recounted that the gate was closed, despite the flight being scheduled to depart. Assis remained at the airport, waiting for any updates, but received no information about his flight. When he finally went downstairs, he encountered a long queue and found himself unable to board the flight at 10:41 AM.
Despite his pleas to board the flight, the airport staff refused to allow him on, much to Assis’s frustration at the time. I hug him because he’s done his job.
