The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) and Breeze Airways celebrated the launch of a new nonstop service from Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) on Saturday, May 25, 2024. This new service aims to enhance connectivity between the two regions, providing travelers with a convenient and efficient option for direct travel. The introduction of this route is expected to boost both business and leisure travel, benefiting the local economies of Syracuse and Raleigh-Durham.
The seasonal service will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, offering passengers flexible scheduling options. The SRAA and Breeze Airways are committed to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers on this new route.
“Raleigh-Durham and the Research Triangle of North Carolina are very important to our region, and we are excited to have a new nonstop option from our partner Breeze Airways,” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri. “There is a strong connection between our markets for visiting friends and relatives, supporting the men and women competing in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports, and the advanced manufacturing & technology sector.”
Today’s inaugural flight departed from Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) at 2:25 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) just after 4:00 p.m. Travelers on this first flight enjoyed a festive celebration at Gate 12, featuring decorations, baked goods, giveaways, and a water cannon salute.
Breeze Airways now offers nonstop flights to six destinations from SYR. These destinations include Charleston, SC; Fort Myers, FL; Las Vegas, NV; Norfolk, VA; Raleigh-Durham, NC; and Tampa, FL.
