Brightline West, a highly anticipated high-speed rail system, will embark on its construction journey on Monday morning. The groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled for the planned Las Vegas station, will witness the presence of Brightline West founder Wes Edens, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and an array of federal, state, and local officials from both Nevada and California.
This momentous event signifies the commencement of construction on the 218-mile rail line, which has recently secured $3 billion in federal funding from President Joe Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill and an additional $3.5 billion in private activity bonds from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The remaining project costs will be covered by private funding.
The rail line will boast stations in Las Vegas and three California locations: Victor Valley, Hesperia, and Rancho Cucamonga. In Rancho Cucamonga, riders will have the convenience of transferring to the Metrolink, enabling seamless travel to and from Los Angeles.
With the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles on the horizon, the high-speed rail project is meticulously planned to be operational in time for this major sporting event. Stay tuned for further developments and updates regarding this transformative infrastructure project.
