Tragic news has emerged surrounding the passing of British reality TV star George Gilbey.
The 40-year-old, known for his appearances on Gogglebox and Big Brother, has died from traumatic head and torso injuries sustained in a workplace accident at a warehouse in Essex on March 27.
It is believed that Gilbey fell through a plastic skylight and plummeted 10.6 meters to the ground. The provisional cause of death has been determined as traumatic injuries consistent with a fall from height.
Essex Senior Coroner Lincoln Brookes opened and closed the inquest during a hearing in Chelmsford, where Coroner’s Officer Deborah Frost stated that Gilbey was working on a roof when the incident occurred.
A post-mortem examination has confirmed that the injuries found on Gilbey’s head and torso are in line with those expected from a fall of that height.
Essex Police have arrested a man in his 40s from the Witham area on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, and a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive is underway. The suspect has since been released under investigation.
Gilbey rose to fame as a cast member on the second UK series of Gogglebox, which captures the reactions of ordinary people watching TV programs from their living rooms. He later appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2014. Gilbey is survived by his 7-year-old daughter, Amelie Iris Gilbey, with Gemma Conway.
