Broken News Season 2 Emphasizes Consumer Responsibility in the Age of Deepfake and AI

The actress, known for her role as journalist Radha Bhargava in the streaming series ‘The Broken News,’ has highlighted the crucial role of news consumers in combating the rise of deepfake technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the dissemination of false information.

The actress emphasized that Season 2 of the series underscores the importance of responsible news consumption. She stated that consumers should be aware of the potential for AI-generated fake news and should engage in fact-checking to ensure the accuracy of the information they access.

‘This season explores several themes in the world of news reporting that are highly relevant,’ the actress said. ‘One of them is fake news and how quickly sensationalized stories can spread more quickly than the truth and facts. The recent alarming incidents involving deepfakes raise concerns about misinformation and the public’s trust in the media.’

‘In the present day, we cannot afford to blindly believe everything we read on social media without verifying the facts from multiple sources due to the prevalence of fake news,’ she added. ‘Our series addresses the fact that the onus also lies on news consumers to distinguish between fact and fiction.’

Elaborating on her character, Radha, the actress mentioned that in Season 2, Radha embarks on a mission to clear her name from false accusations.

‘The character arc of Radha takes an unpredictable turn as she is driven to avenge the false accusations and her unfair portrayal by the press, especially Dipankar, played by Jaideep Alhawat,’ she said. ‘As an actress, exploring this inner conflict was both intense and exhilarating. I enjoy embodying characters on the edge, and working with an actor like Jaideep to create that dynamic was incredibly fulfilling.’

‘I relish a good challenge, and filming Season 2 has been incredibly thrilling and challenging due to the character’s many layers and complexities. I enjoyed every aspect of the process and gained valuable insights into the realm of news reporting,’ she added.

‘The Broken News 2’ premieres on ZEE5 on May 3rd.
