Broncos Acquire Zach Wilson from Jets

The Denver Broncos have acquired insurance at the quarterback position by trading for Zach Wilson from the New York Jets. The Broncos gave up a sixth-round pick and received a seventh-round pick in return, along with some of Wilson’s $5.45 million salary for 2024.

Wilson was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he has struggled in his three seasons with the Jets. He has a 12-21 record and has thrown more interceptions (25) than touchdowns (23). However, he is 2-1 against the Broncos, with both wins coming at Empower Field at Mile High.

Wilson will compete with Jarrett Stidham for the Broncos’ starting quarterback job. The Broncos could still take a quarterback with their No. 12 overall pick, but the chances are now greater that they will use that pick to take the best available position player.
