Brosnan, Mirren, and Kingsley to Star in ‘The Thursday Murder Club’

Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Ben Kingsley will star in ‘The Thursday Murder Club,’ an adaptation of Richard Osman’s best-selling novel of the same name. Chris Columbus will write and direct the film for Steven Spielberg’s production house, Amblin Entertainment.

‘The Thursday Murder Club’ follows a group of geriatric friends in a retirement home who gather weekly to solve murders for fun. However, they soon find themselves caught up in a real-life case that puts their own lives in danger.

Mirren will play Elizabeth, a former spy; Kingsley will portray Ibrahim, an ex-psychiatrist; and Brosnan will take on the role of Ron, a retired union activist. Negotiations are underway for an actress to play the fourth member of the group, Joyce.

Filming is scheduled to commence in the UK at the end of June and run through September. Columbus, who is known for directing ‘Home Alone,’ ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ series, will adapt Osman’s novel for the big screen.

Osman, a popular British TV presenter, sold the rights to ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ to Spielberg in 2020. Since then, work has been underway on the film adaptation. Osman’s novel, his debut as an author, has sold over ten million copies and spawned several sequels.
