Brothers Transform One-Bedroom London Flat, But Viewers Unimpressed
Two property developer brothers have transformed a one-bedroom London flat that they purchased for over double its guide price of £195,000. The flat, which had been empty for two years and was in a ‘grim’ state, has been completely renovated and is now estimated to be worth up to £1 million.
The brothers, who planned to spend around £150-£200,000 on the renovation, knocked through walls to create an open-plan kitchen and living room, and installed black marble throughout the flat. They also sorted out the leasehold, which is now for 999 years.
The original valuer was impressed with the makeover, saying they could easily get £1 million for the flat. He also increased the rental expectation to £4,000 per month.
However, viewers of Homes Under The Hammer were not nearly as impressed and took to social media to make their feelings known.
One viewer opined: ‘That £1m London flat is one of the most naff refurbishments I’ve ever seen! Vile! #HomesUnderTheHammer.’
Another commented: ‘Well money can’t buy taste #homesunderthehammer.’
And another said: ‘You wouldn’t dare criticise that hideous decor, would you?! #homesunderthehammer.’
Meanwhile, one viewer questioned the valuation, writing: ‘£1 million for a one bedroom flat? #homesunderthehammer #huth.’
Homes Under The Hammer is on BBC One daily at 12.15pm.
